Purpose of Job:
·        To lead and co-ordinate the engineering functions required for the Project.
·        Provide leadership, technical expertise, innovation and strategic direction for the engineering functions.
·        Ensure that the company’s engineering policies and practices are integrated into the Project.
·        Ensure appropriate engineering designs and strategies are implemented.
·        Ensure agreed financial and schedule targets are met and that designs take cognizance of the budget constraints.
·        Ensure that engineering quality and safety standards are met.
·        Ensure that vendor and contractor bids are technically evaluated.

To be Considered for this Position you will:
·        Hold formal qualifications in Engineering, i.e. B.Eng Mechanical or Electrical or equivalent.
·        Have winder and shaft maintenance and operations experience.
·        Comprehensive knowledge of and practical experience in the management of the engineering functions in the mining and mineral processing industry.
·        Be an assertive goal-orientated self-starter with good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.
·        Possess sound analytical and decision-making skills.
·        Have tenacity and unquestionable integrity.
·        Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
·        Be stress-tolerant.
·        Have sound people management skills.
·        Business development and analytical skills.
·        Have excellent computing skills in relevant technical software.
·        Work closely with the Mine’s supervisors

Key Responsibilities:
·        Provision of technical expertise.
·        Maintaining of winder and shaft during the drilling phase.
·        Provide technical input into design reviews and squad checking of drawings and documents.
·        Manage on site the various engineering disciplines involved in the project.
·        Ensure that various engineering disciplines, provided by contractors, interact seamlessly with one another.
·        Actively participate in the selection of vendors and contractors.
·        Provide technical input and problem solve during construction and commissioning.
·        Provide reports, analysis and recommendations in support of the project.
·        Maintain close liaison with other disciplines within the project team and Mine operations.

The incumbent will be expected to do Geological modelling and estimate grades. Assistance with QA/QC and Model reconciliations will be expected, and support for the Geological drillhole database must be provided. Final reports for most project work will be expected at high level.

Desired Qualifications:
BSc Geology (Hons.)

Experience:
·         Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience including Exploration, Mining and a minimum of 5 years Resource Evaluation experience
·         JORC competent
·         Experience in coal and/or nickel laterite is essential
·         Previous consulting experience is advantageous

Skills:
·         Technical skills: Resource assessment, QA/QC knowledge, Resource Estimation and Reporting, Mine reconciliation
·         Management skills: Reporting, Communication, Planning, Mentoring etc.
·         Commercial skills: Project review deal negotiation, Project development and Operational experience
·         Must be culturally aware
