Senior Mining Engineer

FIFO Rotation: 90 days on/14 days off

Requirements

·         Relevant Tertiary qualification is essential
·         Postgraduate degree is advantageous
·         Minimum 3-5 years experience
·         Open pit mining exposure is a must as well as experience in iron ore mining
·         Technically competent in methodology and processes
·         Proficient in mining computer software related to open pit mining
·         Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
·         Must be fluent in English

Responsibilities

·         Review and endorse relevant schedules;
·         Assist in ensuring project budgets are closely managed, monitored and accurately reported;
·         Assist in formulation and management of project execution strategies;
·         Take initiative with corrective or contingency actions to deal with threats to progress and outcome;
·         Coordinate engineering project activities;
·         Ensuring compliance with the company policies and procedures;
·         Undertake investigations into alternative mining methods and systems;
·         Creating and implementing medium to long term mine plan and designs that provide a safe working environment and effective and efficient waste movement;
·         Communicating concerns and improvements initiatives to supervisors and management;
·         Formulate and track short term plans ensuring that key objectives are met to achieve medium to long term plans;
·         Participate in the training, mentoring and development of employees;
·         Building and maintaining good working relationships with the alternative departments;
·         Able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders within the company.

The HSE Manager is responsible for all aspects of Company Health, Safety and Environmental and Local Community functions. The incumbent must possess an in-depth knowledge of HSE policies, procedures and protocols, and display initiative and good judgement in performing the duties.

Requirements
· Degree in Business Administration
· Formal qualifications in Safety Management

· 10-15 years relevant experience
·  5-8 years in an HSE Management position
·  5-8 years in underground mining operations
·  Experience in a multi-cultural / multinational environment
·  Understanding of the HSE policies and procedures in a remote location environment
·  Experience in implementing and operating HSE systems on a new mining project

Skills
·  Knowledge and understanding of Arabic would be advantageous
·  Communication - can relate to all employees and managers and develop/maintain sound working relationships
·  Initiative - can identify problems and proactively resolve them
·  High attention to detail - can analyse information and identify errors and gaps
·  Organised - can work within defined time lines and work methodically towards them

Reports to: HR Director
The Training officer is responsible for developing a comprehensive training package that encompasses both elements in order to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce. He/she will either deliver training sessions to participants or arrange for others to do so. The development work relates to the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees' skills so that they can fulfill their potential within their organisation.

Duties
·         Identifying training and development needs within the organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with business managers ;
·         Designing and developing training and development programmes based on both the organisation's and the individual's needs;
·         Considering the costs of planned programmes and keeping within budgets as assessing the return on investment of any training or development programme;
·         Working in a team to produce programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties in an organisation, such as line managers and senior managers at board level;
·         Developing effective induction programmes;
·         Conducting appraisals;
·         Devising individual learning plans;
·         Producing training materials for in-house courses;
·         Managing the delivery of training and development programmes and devising a training strategy for the organisation;
·         Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers;
·         Ensuring that statutory training requirements are met;
·         Evaluate training and development programmes;
·         Amending and revising programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the work environment;
·         Helping line managers to solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups


The Senior HR Officer carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: HR and Administration departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and other employment related functions. 

The Senior HR Officer will be the lead on Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. 

Education

University degree in Human Resource or Business Administration

Key Result Areas
·         To work closely with HR on recruitment and staff logistics; 
·         To continually identify and work on organizational and space planning; 
·         To manage and work with staff and their managers on performance management 
·         To always monitor current processes and identify ways to improve these processes and systems; 
·         Work with the head of the department on organizational development 
·         Conduct employee orientation, development, and training 
·         Be the source of reference to all staff on HR policies and procedures 
·         Continually assist in the development  and maintenance of HR policies and procedures; 
·         Participates in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are raised
·         Advises the Director, heads and managers about the steps needed to take any disciplinary action against a staff member according to policies and procedures 
·         Work with QF HR on employee relations related issues; 
·         Request any HR related letters on behalf of staff skills

Responsible for managing, planning and coordinating fleet transport operations, including delivery and organisation of services.

·        Encompass strategic planning and project management work
·        Making sure the operation meets its performance and safety targets, monitoring and reporting performance to senior management
·        Writing clear reports and presenting options and recommendations to clients and senior management
·        Advising on policy and strategic developments, examining business decisions to assess their impact on delivery
·        Ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with the country’s laws and regulations, particularly relating to health and safety
·        Managing and supervising staff, organising work shift rotas and coordinating staff training
·        Negotiating and managing contracts
·        Minimising disruption and resolving any unscheduled delays, making decisions in difficult situations
·        Ensuring that transport services are available to all through social inclusion initiatives
·        Identifying existing and possible future fleet problems, developing transport models
·        Using IT systems for tasks such as timetabling and managing usage flows

·        Project management from conceptualization, feasibility study to completion;
·        To create and enhance capability for implementing world class mining practices;

·      Responsible for synergizing and consolidating the mining activity to be undertaken; Profit centre head with responsibility for mining operations, transport and dispatch of coal, quality management, safety management and implementation of best practices;
·        Engaging in primary and secondary research for scanning the business environment, assessing the competitive landscape;
·        This is a leadership position at the enterprise level with operational responsibility for spearheading and achieving business excellence by engaging the local management at the unit level. 

Qualifications & Experience
·      Mining Engineer/Geology graduate with 15-20 years of relevant experience (ideally an MSc) coupled with Chartered Engineers Certificate;
·     Senior management experience in large open cast mines with profit centre responsibility with strategic management and business development skills;
·        Intimate knowledge of management and work practices relevant to mechanised mining;
·        Ability to use quantitative analysis and financial tools to justify investment decisions;
·        Commercial awareness.

Residential Role in Mongolia.
Reports to: CEO

The COO is primarily responsible to oversee the everyday operations and functions of the company. Monitor the daily activities/work program of the organisation and report them directly to the CEO. Responsible for designing, improving and implementing the systems the company uses to meet production targets.

The COO will monitor and resolve issues regarding various aspects of the company’s operations with regard to sales, marketing, production and human resources. He/she assures the system-wide implementation of company policies and procedures and finds ways to improve them.

·        Ability to use quantitative analysis and financial tools to justify investment decisions.
·        Ability to liaise with a wide variety of staff and Clients at all levels essential.
·        Ideally you will have gathered overseas experience working with a multinational workforce, preferably in the Asian sector.
