Environmental Engineer – Iron Ore Mining – GM342

The successful applicant will be responsible for completion and management of the Environmental aspects of the Iron Ore operations in a remote area of Mongolia.

Responsibilities
• Obtaining project environmental approvals, including liaison with consultants and coordinating site visits
• Undertaking site assessments and clearances for mining and exploration activities
• Selection and management of contractors and consultants for collection of baseline environmental data and preparation of permitting documents
• Maintain and implement Environmental Management Systems Manage a range of site related activities such as monitoring, sampling, data analysis and data reporting
• Preparation of the annual Mine Management Plan, including site water management plans, and amendments
• Participate in contacts and communications with stakeholders including the Mongolian government and agencies
• Mentoring of site-based environmental personnel
• Maintaining Compliance Register.

Requirements
• B.Sc in Environmental or Mining Engineering required; MS degree preferred
• Chartered status preferred
• Expert-level knowledge of mining issues; including closures, auditing, compliance, health & safety and setting up environmental management systems.
• Experience in implementing environmental management programs
• Excellent communication skills to deal directly with government agencies.
• Working knowledge of conditions of contract
• Computer literate
• Sound leadership, team building and negotiation skills

Position will be offered on a FIFO contract – 90/14 + 4 days travel. Single status preferred due to harsh conditions.
