Full scale mining of the deposit has begun with current production targeting an expansion from 5.0 Mtpa to 10.0 Mtpa, whilst planning for further expansion to 15 Mtpa. The project is presently utilizes 3x 600t, 2x 250t and 4x 85t hydraulic excavators with associated truck fleets, which will need to be increased significantly to reach the planned 15 Mtpa mining rate. Mining complexity is high, with multiple seams, short strike length and high production rates. The location is remote, and weather conditions are extreme.
The role will be responsible for a broad range of duties including mine planning, surveying and pit geology, with the objective of ensuring the safe, environmentally responsible and economically sound development of mine.
Requirements
Mining Engineering degree (or related discipline);
Minimum of five years experience working in significant coal operations;
Candidates with ideal backgrounds will have been intimately involved with large scale coal mining operations in such locations as the Bowen Basin or Hunter Valley in Australia, or the Powder River Basin in the United States;
Strong leadership skills;
Experience in technical coaching;
Developed communication skills;
Team-oriented demeanor, integrity and ability to work transparently;
Able to work with cultural sensitivity.
A fly in fly out roster of 5 weeks on and 2 weeks off, plus 2 weeks annual leave is offered. Flights back to home base (or equivalent) are provided as well as an excellent remuneration package which reflects the hardship of this posting.
